2023 ORLU SENATE: Ohanaeze Youth Makes Case For Nkwere, Nwangele, Isu, others

…Exposes Gang-up against Uzodinma in APC

The Apex Youth Socio-cultural organization of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ohanaeze Youth Council( OYC) has called for fairness, equity and justice in the forthcoming 2023 Orlu Senatorial election.

Addressing Newsmen yesterday, shortly after the meeting of the Council, in Orlu, Imo State, the zonal Chairman, Comrd. Chinedu Eke noted that, by principle of fairness justice and equity Isu/ Nwangele/Nkwere/ Njaba federal constituency should produce the next Senator of Orlu Senatorial District.

He recalled that Isu/ Nwangele/Nkwere/ Njaba federal constituency had been marginalized in terms of distribution of political power with focus on Orlu Senatorial bid.

According to the zonal Chairman, “Senator Francis Arthur Nzeribe who hailed from Ohaji egbema/ Oguta/ Oru west federal constituency held senate from October 1983 to December 1993 and May 1999 to May 2007. Sen. Osita Izunaso who hails from Ohaji egbema/ Oguta/ Oru west federal constituency held the Senate from 2007 to 2011. Sen. Hope Uzodinma who comes from Oru East/ Orsu/ Orlu Federal constituency held the Senate from 2011 to 2019, while the incumbent Sen. Rochas Okorocha who comes from Ideato South/ Ideato North federal constituency took over from 2019 that will end in 2023. It is inarguable that out of the four federal constituency in Orlu Zone, three have held Senate position except one which is Isu/Nwangele/Nkwere/Njaba federal constituency, Comrd. Eke recounted.

Furthermore, he alleged that the rising insecurity in Orlu Zone was funded by groups of political elements whom he regretted “have used fund made from Senate position to make Orlu Zone ungovernable.

“It’s on this premise that the council suggests to Gov. Hope Uzodinma that men who are desperate for power shouldn’t be allowed to clinch to APC Senatorial tickets let alone represent Orlu Zone.

He used the medium to advise to be conscientious in dealing with some some of persons he tagged ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’ who according to him, are head bent on becoming Senators, adding that Orlu zone only needs a Senator devoid of desperation for power.

Speaking, he said: “Unfortunately some kinds of men are now ganging up in pretence of loyalty to Gov. Hope Uzodinma to pick up APC Senatorial tickets in Orlu Zone. Our concerns is that such men that have lined-up do not mean well for Ndi Orlu Zone, and may become the next political tussle Gov. Hope Uzodinma will fight if they eventually become Senator. The recycling of the same political desperados, is another political explosion in Orlu Zone if they have their way.

“Political history has shown that men are naturally desperate for power. Today, our mothers and women have presented themselves for service in Orlu Senatorial bid, Orlu Zone can’t continue to be a battle field thus politically empowering the same caliber of men whose agenda is merely for political dominance. Therefore, Orlu Zone needs a woman Senatorial aspirant who can speak a motherly language to the youths and not all those desperate Senatorial aspirants who are very desperate to clinch APC ticket.”

He, therefore, implored Governor Uzodinma to avail a mother a chance to represent the zone at the Senate, while reminding him of the perils his administration has been made to go through from inception.

“We passionately appeal to Gov. Hope Uzodinma whose administration were made to suffer insecurity by politicians should earnestly give Ndi Orlu a mother to represent them at red chamber.”
