Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB have urged the commissioner of police, Abia State Command, CP Ene Okon to immediately warn his men to desist from arresting their members who have come to pay their last respect to the late parents of the leader of the group.

It is no news any longer that the parents of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB leader, HRM Eze Israel O. Kanu and his wife Ugoeze Sally Kanu are being returned to mother earth this day, February 14, at the Afaraukwu Ibeku, in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State.

Madam Uzoamaka Ejezie fondly addressed as Mama BIAFRA amidst pain and agony has this to say:
“I’m worried because we just received news that the Nigeria Police are arresting people who came for this burial at Union Primary School and we’re not happy about that because this people did not commit anything. We all came for this burial of our papa and Mama. So, why are they arresting them?”

“These people are not having any weapon, they are not having even their flags. They just continue to arrest them and it’s not fair”.

She called on the Nigerian government to direct the security operatives to the Northern part of the country, saying there is no crisis, whatsoever in the area, adding “why can’t the CP warn his men? Are they trying to show us they have AK47?”

Earlier, Mazi Okwudiri Ifeke Umudim, Nnewi, in  Anambra state assured participants of their safety, while enjoining them to remain calm, saying “we’re here in the honour of our mother and father, the womb that gave birth to our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu”.

Meanwhile, Famous Reporters had observed earlier upon arrival that their was serenity in the area but subsequently, reports have it that the Nigeria Police are currently arresting some members of the group at Union Primary School where the main ceremony is expected to take place, as well as Assemblies of God Church in the area.

Also, while roving, Famous Reporters learnt from some of the members in telephone call, expressing their ill- feelings towards the assault of their people who had no IPOB material, by the military at Arongwa, in Abia State.

The caller who managed to escape disclosed that the military dispossessed his colleagues of their phones and other valuables.
