The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, has commended Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state over his unprecedented magnanimity shown to the children of slain Abia – based Ebonyi business couple, Mr. and Mrs. Darlington Uzonwa
Famous Reporters recalls that Mr. Darlington Uzonwa and his wife, Mrs Chinyere Uzonwa were brutally murdered by a dreaded notorious dare-devil Armed Robbers along Secretariat road in Umuahia of Abia state, on January 25, 2020, after dispossessing them of the day’s sales.
The deceased were on March 7, simultaneously lain to rest in their home town, Ugwuegu Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
In a release signed by Chief Goodluck Egwu Ibem,
President- General, COSEYL, the group applauded the Governor’s kind gesture towards the deceased’s children – Priscillia, 16; Solomon, 15; and Judith, 12; all in secondary school, as they urged other Governors and political office holders to emulate Umahi in order to make better the country.
The release reads in parts:
“We commend the good and dynamic Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Gov. David Nweze Umahi for the uncommon and unprecedented kind gesture he showed to the children of the slained Abia – based Ebonyi business couple, Mr Darlington Uzonwa and Mrs Chinyere Uzonwa who were brutally murdered by dare-devil armed robbers along Secretariat road in Umuahia of Abia state on January 25, 2020”.
“The free donation of N3 million succour for the secondary education of the children as well as their up keep by Gov. Umahi clearly shows that the Governor came to serve the good people of the state with all his heart, might and soul”.
The Governor also went further to give a firm promise to the children of the deceased that he will take care of their education to the University level . What a man with a kind heart . His Excellency has indeed shown these children immeasurable love and care. We commend him”.
“This is the first time in the annals of the country that a Governor responded so quickly to come to the aid of his people”.
“Governor David Umahi has written his name in gold as the best Governor in Nigeria that listens and knowns the heartbeat of those he is governing. Leaders with such rare traits are very hard to come by in our time and Ebonyi people are so fortunate to have such a man with rare qualities as their Governor”.
“Gov. Umahi humanitarian services is second to none. He is a trail-brazer with an exceptional, unmatchable leadership qualities that is evident for all and sundry to see”.
“Ebonyi People are so fortunate to have such a man as their Governor and South East is indeed blessed to have so a rare gem as their son and Chairman of South East Governor’s forum”.
Gov. Umahi have proof that South East zone is blessed with men that has what it takes to take the country to greater heights in any position or responsibility given to them by the electorates. Ndigbo are people of integrity and honesty and Governor Umahi is a good example.
We call on the uncle to the children of the deceased Mr Gregory Uzonwa to ensure that he utilize the money given to him by the David of our time judiciously for the purpose for which it was meant for. The education of those children is Paramount and it must not be misplaced.
We urge the children of the deceased – Priscillia Uzonwa; Solomon Uzonwa and Judith Uzonwa to make the Governor and people of Ebonyi proud by taking their studies very serious because that is a only way of appreciating and thanking the Governor.
