BUHARI’S VISIT: Irete, Amakohia, Egbeada Neighborhood Forum welcomes Mr. President. *Thanks Hon. Ihedioha for road project *Emulate Predecessor, Gov. Uzodinma told

The entire Amakohia, Egbeada, Irete neighborhood Forum, in  Imo State has unanimously urged Sen. Hope Uzodinma, the state Governor to dutifully emulate the landmark leadership style of the immediate past Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, as they lauded the latter for his glaring impacts evident in the massive road project in the State.

This is contained in a statement signed by Pharm. Oscar Mgbeahurike and Nze Joachim Ikwu, the Forum’s Chairman and General Secretary, respectively, and made available to newsmen in Owerri.

    The statement read in detail:

    PRESS RELEASE

We have received a formal notification of the proposed visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Owerri, Imo State Capital, scheduled for 9th September, 2021.

This epoch visit, we believe, will in no small measure, have a multiplier effect on the economy and security of the state. Our Forum is also optimistic that Mr. President will have a first hand appreciation of the need for more strategic presence of projects funded by the Federal Government.

    … PART ONE

Among the functions Mr. President is expected to perform, as contained in the letter, is the commissioning of the Amakohia – Egbeada – Irete Road (Amakohia Flyover – Onitsha Rd.), in Owerri.

Suffice to say that, we are not unaware of the collapsed state of that important road prior to the assumption of office by former Governor,  Hon. Emeka Ihedioha. The deplorable state of that road was a nightmare to both motorists, and residents within the area, (especially members of our forum).

Indeed, this road, which was initiated, designed, awarded, constructed  with almost 90% completion by the administration of the Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, has opened up opportunities for our people especially in the real estate sector and has revved up commercial activities within the area.

While we looked forward to a courtesy visit to Hon. Ihedioha, to officially register our gratitude to him and his government for this road, his administration was removed, following the Supreme Court judgement of January,  2020.

We therefore wish to seize this auspicious moment to convey our collective gratitude to His Excellency,  Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha CON, KSC for his prompt action on this road. It is also important to mention that the construction firm, he awarded the contract, did a good job.

We therefore implore Governor Hope Uzodinma to endeavour to give credit to his predecessor, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha on the road under discourse. It is important to draw the attention of Governor Hope Uzodinma to the deplorable state of roads in the state, and most painfully, that few roads his administration did have started collapsing months after commissioning. This trend should be halted, sir.

For the accelerated development of the State, we appeal to Governor Uzodinma to emulate Hon. Ihedioha,  particularly in the area of engaging reputable construction firms and making the actual cost of road contracts public.
