COVID-19: Emenike Osondu Reveals Method Of Distributing Abia Govt’s Palliatives

The Administrator of the free home services for the elderly in Abia says identifying the vulnerable in the state to aid distribution of the food materials provided by the state government will be done through Referer Sources in the various communities.

Speaking with Famous Reporters, Chief Emenike Chuck Osondu pointed out that the Geriatrics were the major beneficiaries of the government’s benevolence which is geared towards extenuating the suffering of the masses as prompted by the extant lockdown.

According to him, “the criteria to be a Geriatric is that they have to be home bound, and must have medical underlining necessities that are bothering them and keeping them at home and the way to identify them is very easy. It’s called Referer Sources.

The illustrious son of Ikwuano LGA stressed that Referer Sources in the various communities would help in identifying the Geriatrics across the state, adding,
“you can be a Referer Source, anybody can be a Referer Source, the Hospital, LG Boss or Churches can serve as Referer Sources.

“In your LGA, you can have somebody that is 70-years and above, you give us a Referer and then we go to the comfort of their homes and we do evaluation and design a plan of care, then you qualify or you don’t qualify.

“When it comes to the health of the elderly, it doesn’t have political undertone. It’s something that we do and you either have it or you. We have to go to their homes and see the health necessity that is in the house. Remember we have criteria. It’s not every 70-years and above. Some 70-years and above are busy running the street.”

He used the medium to commend Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu for the various measures his administration has put in place towords palliating the difficulties suffered by the masses.

“We give kudos to Governor that is taking up the project and pushing it. It’s important also to state that the House of Assembly has finished the work in making it a law in Abia state but the real war is the work but we have been doing this for so many years and we have their records.”
