The member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal constituency has in his bid to provide lasting solution to the subsistent inter communal war between Isu community, in Arochukwu LGA of Abia and their sister state Cross Rivers reiterated his commitment towards facilitating the process of delineating the boundary by the National Boundary Commission.Recall that Rt. Hon. Nkole had earlier through a motion of urgent National Importance on the floor of the green chamber among other prayers called on the President to mandate the National Boundary Commission to delineate the boundary that will bring a permanent restoration of peace and tranquility in the troubled area.Addressing the Traditional Rulers and Elders of Isu community at the palace of Eze Dr. Eze Ogbonnaya Eze, Eze Isu community, Thursday, June 25, 2020, the federal lawmaker restated that the provision of the relief materials by NEMA was in response to one of the prayers he made on the 20th February, 2020 at the floor of the House of Representatives where he raised a motion mandating NEMA to provide relief assistance to the affected persons.Hon. Nkole appreciated again Mr. President, Mr. Speaker and his colleagues and NEMA for their cooperation in giving effect to the prayer regarding the palliatives for the Internally Displaced Constituents affected by the boundary clash. The items include tons of assorted grains, other food items and sleeping materials with other supporting utensils.The federal lawmaker used the medium to thank the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, for instituting a lot of proactive measures. Such interventions has seen the Governor through the Abia State Commissioner of Police, ensured the deployment of Mobile Police “that’s on ground till date to Isu, including several swift interventions by deployment of soldiers when needed with aggressive intelligence gathering by relevant authority that has ensued relative calm in the highly volatile area”, he added.
According to him, “the crisis is a major concern to the Governor as he has also personally taken the matter to his Cross Rivers State counterpart for the amicable resolution of the conflict.”In addition, Hon. Nkole expressed gratitude to the Deputy Governor of Abia State RT. Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, the Senate Chief Whip and the Senator Representing Abia North, Senator Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, the member representing Arochukwu State constituency, Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Mike Ukoha, as well as the Transition Committee Chairman, Arochukwu LGA, Mazi Emmanuel Kanu, the Secretary to the Local Government Council, Ezinne Grace Okorie, an Isu Indegene and other stakeholders for their efforts and synergetic roles in restoring peace and orderliness among the conflicting parties.Furthermore, Nkole sympathized with the people of Isu, saying “I am strongly with you in this moment of unwarranted attacks and wanton destruction of lives and property”.In their separate speeches, the Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu represented by Rev. Mrs. Jemima Ola Kalu, Hon. Mike Ukoha and Mazi Emmanuel Kalu lauded the indefatigable efforts of Hon. Uko Nkole.
They recounted on his unflinching efforts in facilitating the positive actualisation of the motions he had raised, as they promised to continue to synergize with Hon. Nkole towards forestalling lasting solution to the communal clashes between the Isu community and their Cross River counterparts, while urging the people to remain patient and prayerful.Also speaking, the Executive Secretary, Abia State Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Jackson Sunday applauded the pragmatic leadership and proactive efforts of the federal lawmaker who, according to him, has left no stone unturned in the quick implementation of his motions. Mr. Sunday said the relief materials provided for the Isu community was the largest ever distributed in the State.Responding, the Eze Obieze of Isu, Eze Maltimo Kalu Ogbonnaya expressed gratitude to Hon. Nkole for his undying love for the community thus rising up to the occasion of providing relief materials through NEMA and his efforts towards enthroning enduring peace in the community.Eze Maltimo revealed that the people of Ukwa community in Cross Rivers State had assured of their determination for harmonious resolution of the conflict, reiterating the community’s preparedness to corporate with relevant bodies to bring lasting solution to the communal clashes.Attendance at the event included the Deputy Transition Committee Chairman, Arochukwu LGA, Hon.
