All roads led to the compound of Late Sir Joseph Enyia, yesterday, Saturday, as late Sir, Prof. Dike Ogbuefi Enyidike, (JP, KJW), was laid to rest, in his compound at Oloko Community, in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State.

It was an atmosphere of mixed feelings, as both the immediate family and community celebrated the legacies of the patriarch, while also nurturing the pains of loosing a personality they described as an irreplaceable icon ever in existence.

In his homily, the officiating priest, Bishop Okorie, of Methodist church Nigeria, Ndoro Diocese described the former Knight of Methodist Church as a profound man whose humility, intellect, kindness, morality and simplicity are ‘second to none’ both in his immediate community and State in general.

Bishop Okorie, who drew his anchor text from the Book of 1Kings Chapter 2:1-6, described death as a certain factor designed for mankind, and urged the bereaved family to endeavour to emulate the footprints.

The clergy while recounting on the extant hike in insecurity across the regions of the country, enjoined the congregation to reflect on their individual lifestyles, irrespective of their earthly possessions, reiterating that, “death is inevitable for every man especially in this perilous time. So, this is a time for all of us to reflect on our lives because the rate at which people die especially in this period of insecurity calls for sober reflections at all times.

“Prof. has left behind every of his portfolio. He was a renowned Knight in Methodist Church. He had acquired all manners of certificates and yet he’s returning to his Creator with just nothing. Our prayer is for God to grant his gentle soul rest in His kingdom.

He implored the living to always live with the consciousness that death could suddenly come upon anyone, lamenting that, “death is not a respecter of anyone neither does it come on appointment, he warned.

Let us emulate the good lifestyle of Prof. Ogbuefi. He was a humble man, sagacious, very kind to everyone who crossed paths with him and he affected many positively especially in areas of education. He was an erudite Scholar and today we’re happy he’s gone and has left legacies we must follow.

Speaking further, the Knights added that, “Prof. came, saw and conquered. Though you spent a brief time with us in the Council of Knights, you’ll forever be remembered. And our prayer is for God to release more of His grace and blessings upon your children so they can multiply and never to diminish.IMG20221126124148
