The Director Amaudo Itumbauzo Centre for mentally ill destitutes, Very Reverend Kenneth Nwaubani has opined that  the increasing number of homelessness among members of the society could be mitigated through the establishment of an institution anchored on social security.


Speaking shortly after the second picking exercise of the center for the year during which five mentally ill persons were picked in Aba for rehabilitation, Rev. Nwaubani called for the creation of an enabling environment for the survival of all manner persons in society.

While making case for increased budgetary provisions for mental health care and Human -based Health law in Nigeria, the Amaudo center Director attributed most mental challenges facing the public to a life of hopelessness.

Furthermore, he lauded the supportive roles of Aba residents during the picking exercise, explained that the choice of Aba for the exercise was in response to the report of increasing number of mentally ill and destitute persons in the area, blaming the development on socio-economic factors.
