img 20200701 wa00543235645901560008362Contrary to the claims made by the contractor handling the work on Ndiebe Bailey Bridge in Abam, Arochukwu LGA, of Abia State, Mr. Ugochukwu Ohuabunwa, Managing Director of Masta Services Ltd, denying payment of work done, facts have emerged to show that the former was paid the sum of N49, 761, 637.07 by the Anambra Imo River Basin Authority out of the N50m contract sum.It would be recalled that the MD of Masta Services Ltd, had earlier in a leaked audio, debunked the receipt of money by his company for the job done so far on Ndiebe Bridge.A letter exclusively obtained from the agency, glaringly indicated that the said contractor had been fully paid for the project which ranges from Study and design, River diversion works and concrete works in foundation.img 20200701 wa004427433748528902819img 20200702 wa00133390803496942707266
img 20200701 wa00453865184827020592598This revelation, therefore, contradicts the erroneous claims made by the contractor, Mr. Ugochukwu Ohuabunwa who had in a leaked audio, claimed that his company had not been paid for job done so far on the site.Regrettably, the contractor had, however, accused the member representing Arochukwu\ Ohafia Federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Nkole the National Assembly of being behind his company’s travails.
Moreso, according to leaked audio, Ohuabunwa’s his company had an unwritten agreement with the agency to commence work on the site while paper work for payment is being processed, alleging that the member representing Arochukwu\Ohafia Federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Nkole had used his connection to avert the payment.
Amidst dissatisfaction, the host community had petitioned the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, the parent body of the River Basin Authority, the Ministry then requested the agency to furnish it with facts about the contract.Further investigation by our Correspondent, however, disclosed that documents from the agency apparently falsifies the contractor’s claim.Meanwhile, the host community through its lawyer, has ordered the contractor to return to site and execute the project within seven days or face legal action, hence their seemingly feeling of disappointment at the revelation. In their aggrieve state, the host community accused the contractor of using the contacts of his brother, Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa, who is a former lawmaker to fleece funds from the Federal Government, while insisting that the contractor return to site and execute the project of which it has been fully mobilized for.Our Correspondent who visited the site recounts that the construction of the bridge was solely attracted by the member representing Arochukwu-Ohafia Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Nkole, as the work, according to observation has attained over 70% completion.
