Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has sacked majority of his political aides in the Ivo Local Government Area of the State, where former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, hails from the LGA.
This is coming barely 24 hours after Senator Anyim wrote an open letter to Umahi, which he copied The President, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rted), and heads of security agencies.
In the said letter, Anyim alleged that Umahi was plotting to kill him and also said the governor was a prisoner of his greed and inordinate ambition.
Anyim was reacting to an allegation by Governor Umahi that the former Senate President was plotting with other high ranking People’s Democratic Party leaders in the state to instigate violence in the state.
The Governor, had also last week named the other persons working alongsid Anyim, as Senators Obinna Ọgba and Sam Egwu and Acting Southeast Zonal Vice Chairman of the South-East, Ali Odefa.
According to the governor, they were plotting with cultists and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, to cause unrest in the state.
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala, announced the sack in the state-owned radio station, the Ebonyii State Broadcasting Corporation, on Wednesday.
According to Ugbala, the sack was informed by the Governor’s decision to ensure inclusiveness in governance.
Those affected by the sack are: All Senior Technical Assistants and Technical Assistants to the Governor; all Liaison Officers; and all Management Committee members from Ivo Council area.
The governor directed all concerned to handover all Government property in their possession to the Secretary to the State Government by the close of work today, 2nd December 2020.
FamousReporters report that Umahi had last Thursday sacked Coordinators of Ivo and Echiele Development Centres for allegedly refusing to sign a communiqué against Senator Anyim.
Also some of Umahi’s appointees from the Ivo LGA, had resigned some days ago, before the Wednesday’s sack.
Appointees of the Governor loyal to Dr. Egwu, who represents Ebonyi North, were also sacked last week.
